Tax Planning
The conversation worth having in May, not the one you have in October.
What this actually is
By the time your return is prepared, the year is over and the number is the number. Tax planning is the same work done in April or May instead, when there are still decisions available to you. It is the single highest value hour most small businesses do not book.

What you get, specifically.
- An estimate of where your tax will land before 30 June
- Timing of income and deductible spending reviewed
- Superannuation contributions, including catch up, considered against the caps
- Asset purchases and write off timing
- Trust distribution resolutions prepared before year end, as they must be
- A one page plan, not a report you will not read
- Businesses that have had a better year than expected
- Anyone facing a large one off gain
- Trusts, which have a hard deadline of 30 June for resolutions
Three steps, and no surprises in any of them.
Have a chat
Ring, email, or fill in the form. Fifteen minutes on the phone is usually enough to work out what you need and whether I am the right fit.
Send me what you have
Even if it is a shoebox and a bank statement. I will tell you what is missing rather than guess at it.
I do the work
I prepare the work and send you a draft to look over. Nothing is lodged until you have seen it and understood it.
What people ask about tax planning.
When should we do this?
April or May. Late June is still better than nothing, but a lot of the useful options have closed by then.
Usually needed alongside this.
